Send names for commemoration
The well. Names are lowered down the monastery's axis, like stone taken out of the cave.
About the commemoration list
At every moment of our lives, and above all in times of hard trial, each of us needs the help of the All-merciful God, and we can receive this help only if we ask for it in prayer. Our own prayer matters greatly, and so does the prayer of those who have given their whole life to the service of God – priests and monks – who, through their constant nearness to God, can intercede before Him for all Christians. The traditional way of asking for the prayers of priests is to write a pomelnic, a commemoration list with the FULL BAPTISMAL NAMES (e.g. Anastasia, Ioan, Elizaveta, Maria, Vasile, Alexandru, Anatolie, Constantin, Gheorghe) of those for whom you wish prayers to be raised before God, whether living or departed, relatives, friends and even enemies.
Those of another faith (heterodox Christians or followers of other religions), sorcerers, charmers, or those known to be living, and persisting, in grave sin (murder, adultery and the like) cannot be included in the list.
Among the departed, those who took their own life cannot be included, for in killing themselves they refused the gift of life received from God, and refused God Himself. Children who died unbaptised and aborted infants cannot be included either.
This way of sending commemoration lists through the website of Saharna Monastery was made for those who, for whatever reason, cannot come and hand their lists to the priest in person for commemoration at the holy services. It also reaches the monastery at once, and so can be commemorated sooner than a list sent by post.
Please remember that sending a list online does not release you from a Christian's daily rule of prayer, from going to church, from keeping the fasts of the year (Wednesdays and Fridays), from confession to your spiritual father and from Holy Communion.
All messages are received by the administrator of the page, the secretary of the Holy Monastery, who will reply to the e-mail address given in the form.
If you do not receive a confirmation that your list has arrived, check carefully what you entered in the required fields of the form.
A donation sent with a commemoration list is neither required nor charged, but it is gratefully received, whatever the amount.
